Wayne L. Parkhurst was born January 7, 1926 in Oakwood, Oklahoma to Esther Pearl and John William Parkhurst. He passed away February 13, 2008 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 6 days.
He grew up in western Oklahoma and attended Nine Mile School. He was married to Juanice Boyles at Wheeler, Texas on May 17, 1947. They lived in Hammon before moving to Strong City in May of 1961 where they operated a Grade A dairy with 100 cows. In 2001 they moved to Cheyenne to make their home.
He was a member of the Cheyenne Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jimmy and Marion and 1 sister Roberta Marion, and 1 stepsister, Lorene Schultz.
Survivors include his wife, Juanice, of the home; 2 daughters, Virginia Isch and husband Lester, of Reydon, Oklahoma and Suzi Davis, of Strong City, Oklahoma; 1 son Bobby Parkhurst and wife, Wendee, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, 2 brothers, Melvin Parkhurst and wife Deann, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Robert Parkhurst and wife, Nadine of Duncan, Oklahoma; stepsisters, Jane Lamke and husband, Richard, Hitchock, Oklahoma, Mary Van Pelt and husband Jerry, Beloit, Kansas, Jean Darichurst, Canton, Oklahoma and Wanda Yates, Amarillo, Texas; 1 step brother, Thurman Moody and wife, of Kansas; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 greatgreat granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Bob Ely and Rev. Joe Cantu. Burial was held at Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
