Dorothy Matilda Morris was born July 22, 1915 in the Dempsey Community, Oklahoma to Ermine and Luther Marcus Turbyfill. She passed away September 30, 2003 in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 8 days.
Dorothy was raised on a farm in Roger Mills County where she lived most of her life with her three sisters, Lettress, Katherine and Marguerite. She graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1933. She was married to John Atchison Morris at Sayre, Oklahoma on February 17, 1935. From this union were born two children, a son, Emmett and a daughter, Anita.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a very precious grandmother. She was the Secretary for the family trucking and welding business for many years. The enjoyed teaching Bible School and Sunday School class for the children. She was a member of the Cheyenne Church of Christ for a number of years. She was a good friend to all she knew and willing to help anyone in need. She loved people and enjoyed visiting with her friends. The great joy of her life was her six grandsons: Bruce and Dave Blanton, Lee, Bob, Ronnie and Wade Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one grandson, Ronnie.
Survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Emmett and Dammie Morris, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Ed Blanton, Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Katherine Westerburg and husband, Jim, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; five grandsons and their wives, Dave Blanton, Dallas, Texas; Lee and Rita Morris, Tuttle, Oklahoma; Bob and Teresa Morris, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Wade and Lacinda Morris, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Bruce and Cathie Blanton, Washingyton, D.C.; seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Robin, Ryan Fawn, Austin, Ashley, Jennifer Edwards and husband, Justin, Dorothy Plemons and Brandon, one great-great granddaughter, Maeligh Plemons and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Friday, October 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cheyenne Church of Christ, officiated by Kendall Abner. Burial will be at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
