Joice Thetford was born April 11, 1933 in Erick, Oklahoma to Myrtle and C.W. Thetford. He passed away April 25, 2009 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years and 14 days.

Joice grew up east of Berlin. He was married to Lawanda (Drew) Thetford at Sayre, Oklahoma on January 21, 1955. After their marriage they resided east of Berlin until Joice was drafted into the United States Army. Joice served his country in the Korean conflict. After his discharge in 1958 he returned and started his soil conservation business and continued to operate the business until present. Joice enjoyed working and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

He is survived by his wife, Lawanda, of the home; 1 son, Terry Thetford, Elk City, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Truman Thetford, Sayre, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 11:00 am at Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
