Larry Leon Bates succumbed to cancer in his home per his wish on August 31, 2016 at the age of 75. He passed free of pain surrounded by his family and dear friends. Larry was born April 8, 1941 to Leon and Lorene (Taylor) Bates in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Larry was his own man, he lived his way with no apology and little explanation. The outdoors were not just a hobby but a way of life. He achieved levels of skills, knowledge, and abilities that few will ever be capable of. He will surely be missed.

Pallbearers will include Jimmy R. Bates, Johnny Taylor, Kaleb Taylor, Chester Waits, Charlie Duncan, and Dave Shannon.

Services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11 o'clock a.m. at Burkhart Funeral Service of Antlers Chapel with Brother Tony Neal officiating.

Interment will be at Rattan Cemetery under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service of Antlers.
