Peggy Lou Higgins Wustenberg

Peggy Wustenberg, age 94 of Wanette, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023. Peggy Lou Higgins was born August 25, 1929 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, 1 of 10 children born to Murray Drayton Higgins and Zula Tennessee (Barnes) Higgins. She was raised in Wanette where she attended school, graduating in 1948. Peggy was introduced to Army Master Sergeant Walter Wustenberg by her brother. They fell in love and were married on April 8, 1958 in Burbank, California. By 1966, they had settled in Wanette where they raised their family. For more than 55 years, Peggy owned and operated the Wanette Beauty Shop. She loved her customers and the friendships developed throughout the years. Peggy loved her community and truly had a servant's heart. She stayed active volunteering for the Wanette Flag Day Celebration and also at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a woman of great faith and longtime member of the Wanette Church of Christ. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: her son, Stephen Dion Moore; her husband Walter Wustenberg; parents, Murray and Zula Higgins and siblings, Opal Fay Higgins, Ola Mae Clair, Sylvia Pogue, George Higgins, Bernice Swenson, Winfred Higgins, Ellen Lillard, L.D. Higgins and Mildred Eversole.

She is survived by: her son, John Wustenberg; a grandson, Damon Moore; daugher-in-law Kaye Moore, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Wanette Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com.
