MAXINE McGAHA SCOTT
1924 - 2013

Maxine White McGaha Scott, age 88 of Lexington passed away Wednesday March 13, 2013 at her home.
She was born on November 2, 1924 in Wanette, Oklahoma.
She was the oldest child of three children born to John Thomas White and Bertha Lee Wright. Maxine grew up as a farm girl and learned how to work hard when she was young. She attended the Buckhead School, a small rural country school between Lexington and Wanette.
She married Ray Levi McGaha in 1947 and together they raised two children, Patricia and Tommy. In 1962, one year after Ray's unexpected death, Maxine married Marvin Scott and together they raised two more children Lawayne and Janis.
While her children were growing up, Maxine worked tirelessly as a wife and mother to provide for her family. She worked at various jobs throughout her life including working as a house cleaner for the Purcell Hospital, as a janitor at Washington schools, many years at Perfection Hi-test in Purcell and later for Oklahoma Starter Drive in Lexington.
She remained living all of her life on a small farm in the same area that she grew up in east of Lexington. There she enjoyed raising farm animals, especially chickens. She was an avid gardener; she enjoyed canning, cooking, sewing and quilting. While her children were growing up attending Lexington schools she was active as their 4-H leader.
Maxine will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Levi McGaha; daughter Patricia Lewis; son Marvin Lawayne Scott; granddaughter Kassandra Lindsey; brother: J. T. White and her sister Rosa Williams.
She is survived by her children, Tommy McGaha and wife Laquetta of Purcell and Janis Lindsey of Moore; her claimed adopted daughter and her family Cathy Russell of McLoud; seven grandchildren, Anna Kutz of Washington; Dusty Scott and wife Heyle of Purcell; Darla Milner and husband Joel of Purcell; Ryan Lindsay of Moore; Randy Lewis; Rebecca Lewis; Jana Albertson and husband Jon all of Lexington; nine great grandchildren, Jordan Kutz; Kobe Scott; Hayden Brakefield; Cody Jordan; Cole Albertson; Lane Lewis; Gentry Scott; Lori Li Lewis and Faith Lewis; also many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
Interment will be at Wanette Cemetery.
