Thomas Arthur “Tommy” Burton, Jr., 97, died October 15, 2016 in OKC. He was born January 3, 1919 in Erick, OK to Thomas and Mattie (Grover) Burton. He attended Bethany-Peniel College (now SNU). He married Helen Lucile Shaffer on September 14, 1940 in Hydro, OK and they were blessed with 76 years of marriage. He enjoyed 57 years of pastoral ministry in the Nazarene church, serving in Barnsdall, OK, Fitzgerald, GA, Bartlesville, OK, Hastings, NE, Corpus Christi, TX, South Gate, CA, Waco, TX, Odessa, TX, and Great Bend, KS where he retired. After retirement, he moved to Bartlesville, OK to become senior adult pastor for seven years, then retired again and moved to Ada, OK. Health concerns brought him to Baptist Village, OKC.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife, Helen; daughters, Karen Ewers and husband Charles, Yukon, OK, Annette Bodine and husband Larry, Asher, OK; son, Paul Burton and wife Pat, Mustang, OK; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm, with family present from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, October 24, 11:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Wanette Cemetery, Wanette, OK.

Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons: Brent Ewers, Adam Bodine, David Izell, Chris Davis, and Eric Potter.
