Melvin “Leon” Watkins, 77, Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 in Oklahoma City.

He was born August 28, 1943 to Tony and Gusta (Goodnight) Watkins in Fontana, California.

Leon was raised in the Prague/Centerview area. He graduated with the class of 1962 from Prairie Valley in Seminole County. He has lived in Tecumseh for the last 23 years.

He married Amelia Hendricks on August 30, 1997 at Texoma Lake.

Leon was a truck driver, peanut farmer and dairy farmer. He loved working for Jesus and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Watkins; his parents, Tony and Gusta Watkins; 2 sisters, Louella Croslin and Louise Hale.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Amelia Watkins of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Melissa Watkins of Tecumseh, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Tony Emig of Edmond, OK; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorene Watkins; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2021 at Tecumseh Cemetery with Brother Rick MacQueen, Shawnee Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
