Robert G. Talley, 88, of Depew, Oklahoma formally a resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, November 29th, 2018 after an extended illness, surrounded by family in Oklahoma City.

He was born July 11th, 1930 to William Franklin and Verdie Edna (Cook) Talley in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

Robert was a 1948 graduate of Tecumseh High School and University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. While in college he joined the ROTC and National Guard serving in the 45th Infantry Division as Sergeant and Squad Leader. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Bronze Star, The Republic of Korea Service Medal, U.S. Army Occupation of Japan Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

He married Margaret B. Shanks on April 17th, 1960 in Salina, Kansas.

Robert worked at Tinker Air Force Base, was an entrepreneur, and former Mayor of Depew, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin and Verdie Edna Talley; granddaughter Ashleigh Bouziden; grandson Kyle Rhanson Talley; son-in-law J.C. Bouziden; and two sisters, Estaline Collins and Ethel Bruce.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret B. (Shanks) Talley of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pamelia (Talley) Bouziden of Colorado Springs, CO; Samatha Ann Talley-Anderson and Charles Anderson of Edmond, OK; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert B. and Wanda Talley, of San Antonio, TX; Robin G. Talley and Shelley Coffman, of Shawnee, OK; nine grandchildren, Taracasa Jean (Talley) Snipes, Beaux Talley, Braden Talley, Charity Desire (Bouziden) Melber, Zavier Cameron Talley, Caitlin Anderson, Chase Anderson, Caden Anderson, Cierra Anderson, and Colby Anderson ; one great-granddaughter, Ella Katarina Snipes; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin and Shirley Talley of Tecumseh, OK and Raymond and Myrna Talley of Stillwater, OK; and other extended family and friends.

Service will be Friday, December 28th, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1625 N. Broadway Ave., Shawnee, OK 74804 with the Rev. Ray Belford officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
