Wilburn A. Mayo, age 85, of Macomb, passed away, Thursday, August 25, 2011, in Shawnee, OK. He was born July 29, 1926, to Otis and Lottie (Bond) Mayo, in De Kalb, TX. Will grew up around Connerville and attended school in Coachworth.

He worked as a Welder at Kizer Ship Yard at Vancouver, Washington until he voluntarily enlisted into the U.S. Navy in April of 1944. Will was honorably discharged in May of 1946, with the rank of Seaman First Class, WWII. He served aboard a light cruiser LCI Land Craft.

Will belonged to the Faith Abundant Full Gospel Church and taught the Adult Sunday School Class.

He married Bessie Johnston on February 25, 1971, in Gainesville, TX.

Will worked in drywall at Oklahoma City, before moving to Macomb and going to work for the City of Tecumseh in the Street Department. He was a member of Tecumseh VFW. Will enjoyed traveling and camping.

Will was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; daughter and great grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie, of the home; daughter; Willa and husband Albert Ragland, Tecumseh; son, Don Luschen and wife Alice; brother, John; two sisters, Jolly and Doris, Achille, OK; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great great-grandson. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2011.

The Family will gather to meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2011. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gaylon Cannon, Faith Abundant Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
