Shawn David Fleming

Shawn David Fleming, 51, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life Saturday, May 13, 2023.

He was born August 17, 1971 to David and Judy (Capehart) Fleming in Shawnee, Oklahoma at Mission Hill Hospital.

Shawn was raised in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1990 from Tecumseh High School. Shawn was on the livestock judging team and earned his Associate degree in 1992 from Connors State College and in 1994 he earned his Bachelor's in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University. After college he worked in Muskogee and Chandler before moving back to Tecumseh in 1998, where he has lived ever since.

He married Shelley Grantham on May 11, 1996 in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Shawn worked as a Natural Recourse Conservationist for almost 30 years.

He served as President of the Tecumseh School Board and was a member for 20 years. He was a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association, also received the State FFA Degree in 1990 and Oklahoma Honorary State FFA Degree in 2002, Beef Superintendent for Pottawatomie County Livestock Show and the Pottawatomie County Free Fair, organized cooked and volunteer for the PCJLS Trophy Auction, served as chair for Farmer Rancher Day, PCJLS Honoree in 2023 for 20 years of service, organized the Agricultural Career Day for Shawnee Chamber, volunteered for many years in any way needed for Tecumseh FFA, and was a longtime volunteer for I.F.Y.R.

Shawn loved coaching both of his children in baseball and softball. He also enjoyed his time in the sheep barn with his daughter raising their own flock and competing at numerous stock shows. Shawn loved kids and enjoyed helping both his own kids and others in any way he could. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to spend time at deer camp in Broken Bow or Hollis, Oklahoma. He also loved fishing anywhere he could, especially Lake Eufaula.

He was preceded in death his grandparents; aunts, Tammy Wooley and Margie Littrell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelley Fleming of the home; daughter, Katelyn Fleming of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Isabella Brooks of Earlsboro, OK; grandson, Kayce Fleming; his parents, David and Judy Fleming of Tecumseh, OK; sister, Gina and Jamie Jones of Benton, AR; niece, Josie Jones; nephew, Jake Jones; 2 aunts and 2 uncles, Jane Fleming, Ronda and Bob Talley and Richard Wooley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sandra and Dwayne Dech; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Hatcher, Karen and Justin Edwards and Lacey Grantham; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and numerous friends.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Tecumseh FFA, 901 N. 13th Street, Tecumseh, OK 74873 or Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 234, Tecumseh, OK 74873.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home and continue until time of service. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Tecumseh Alumni Center with Reverend Jerry Kuhn, Home Church, Tecumseh, OK officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
