Georgia Lee Barnes Taylor

Georgia Lee (Barnes) Taylor, 94 of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022.

She was born to Francis and Ida May (Crawford) Barnes on August 7, 1928 at her grandparents home, “The Crawfords” in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma.

Georgia attended New Hope Elementary school and then graduated from Bethel High School in the class of 1946.

She married Robert Lee Taylor “Bob” on April 1, 1949 in Shawnee Oklahoma.

Georgia worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 17 years as a long distance operator. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and had received a longest standing member Award from the Oklahoma Baptist Historical Commission; a past member of the Shawnee Garden Club. She loved animals especially her cats.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob Taylor, son, Robert Brett Taylor, grandson Kenneth Eugene Colvin, and infant baby sister Frances May Barnes.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Cathy Colvin and husband David of Shawnee, OK; grandson, Brett Taylor and wife Kalin of Choctaw, OK; granddaughter, Catie McBay of Shawnee, OK; grandson, Chris McBay of Shawnee, OK; and granddaughter Heather Colvin of Seminole, OK; 8 great grandchildren, Garrett Taylor, Rowan Taylor, Easton McBay, Grant McBay, Hailey Colvin, Mayce Colvin, Magic Colvin and Arica Wassana; 2 sisters Linda Carole Staal of Moore, OK and Frances Ellen Fialo of Bella Vista, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday December 12, 2022 and Tuesday, December 13 from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
