Heaven gained a precious Angel on January 15, 2019. Longtime Shawnee grocer and community icon Frank Oliver, 83, of Shawnee left this world and skated through the gates of Heaven.

He was born November 14, 1935 to Frank and Dorothey (Ott) Oliver in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Frank was raised in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1953 from Shawnee High School.

Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and was honorably discharged.

He married Yvonne Moore on July 2, 1961 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. At the age of 13 he started working for Bill “Grandpa” Hardesty at Hardesty and Sons Grocery, and then the name was changed to Murl Hardesty Grocery. In 1982 he became the owner and operator of Hardesty Grocery Market and Station until the day of his passing. He also worked for 26 years at Bob’s Rollaway Rink in Shawnee.

He was a dedicated member of Rock Creek Baptist Church where he served as a long standing Deacon. Frank was a member of the Canadian Valley Roundup Foundation, was a Semi-Pro Roller Skater, loved hockey and was well known for his famous quotes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline “Polly” Oliver; son-in-law, Larry Don Hull, Jr.; son, Pat Robinson; sisters, Virginia Hardesty and Dorothey Griffin; and brothers, Tom Oliver and Paul Oliver.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Yvonne Oliver of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Shelli and Darin Sparkman of Shawnee, OK and Charli Hull of Shawnee, OK; sons, Grady Oliver of Shawnee, OK and Scott Oliver of Tecumseh, OK; grandchildren, Madison, Mekenzi, Murphi, Mayci, Matt, Porter, Dillon, Harley, Dane, Brodey, Gus, Franki and Jessi; great-grandchildren, Ember, Elliotte, Brayleigh, Braylinn and Kyndall; additional children raised in the home, Wade Auld of Houston, TX and Gretchen (Plough) Grosetta of Cottonwood, AZ; and other loving extended family and many many dear friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 and continue until time of service on Friday. Family will be present to greet friends and family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Frank Oliver Memorial Fund at any BancFirst location.
