BARBARA JOAN HESTER

May 18, 1934 - August 14, 2017

Barbara Joan Hester, 83, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Barbara was born May 18, 1934 in Fitzhugh, OK to Julius and Adell Houchen. She married her best friend, James Hester, in 1955. Together they lovingly raised their two children, Ron Hester and Pam Churchwell.

Barbara worked for Southwestern Bell for 30 years before retiring. She loved to crochet and spend time with her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Hester; grandson, Brent Weathers; eight sisters and two brothers.

Barbara is survived by her children, Ronald and his wife Barbara Hester; Pam and her husband Johnnie Churchwell; grandchildren, Brandie Carter, Brittany Carper, Jason Hester; great grandchildren, Katelyn Carper, Jailyn Carper, James Carper Jr., Britlie Carter, and Braelynn Carter; sisters, Helen Elkins of Oklahoma City and, Lavell Keener of Texas; and former son-in-law, Terry Weathers.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2017 at Resthaven Funeral Home followed with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
