Betty Jo (BJ) Hawthorne was met by the loving arms of Jesus on September 2, 2020, as she was held by her family.
She was born on January 8, 1934, in Sasakwa, OK, to Elmer and Agnes Starkey. As high school sweethearts, Betty and Ray Hawthorne married on October 29, 1951. To this union, four children were born.
Betty was preceded in death by Ray in 2006.
She is survived by her son, Bobby and wife, Marie; her daughter, Teresa Hatfield; her daughter, Holly and husband, Kevin Fields; and her son, Todd and wife, Jayme.
Each child considered Betty to be his or her Angel on Earth. She was a devoted grandmama to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. During her career, Betty was a Foreign Disclosure Officer at TAFB. Betty was a diligent voice for children for many years and was awarded recognition for her work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.
Her family would like to recognize her physician, Dr. George Tardibono, for his friendship with and dedication to Betty.
Betty’s life will be celebrated in a memorial service on September 8, 2020, at 2 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, OK.
