Helen Irene Mashburn Borden

January 12, 1914 ~ January 26, 2008

Longtime Shawnee resident, Helen Irene Borden died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the age of 94. She was born in McAlester, OK on January 12, 1914 to William and Etta (Rice) Mashburn. Helen married Burse Leon Borden in Fayetteville, AR on September 2, 1939. They settled in Shawnee, OK where Helen was a homemaker and an active member and Sunday school teacher at Immanuel Baptist Church. She also loved to garden, sew, and go fishing with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years in May 2003; sisters Ethel, Alene, Ina, and Norma; brothers Art, Claude, Sterling, and John; and son-in-law Robert Craig of Shawnee, OK.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Kim Borden of Camano Island, WA; daughters and sons-in-laws, Jane and Harold Wall of OKC, Becky and Steve Rosenbaum of Lewisville, TX, and Elaine Craig of Edmond, OK; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of devoted family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Crestview Baptist Church in OKC.

Burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, OK.
