MELVIN VAN YOUNG
1929 - 2002


KRESS - Melvin Van Young, 72, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, in Lubbock, Texas.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Plainview with the Rev. Ron Brunson, pastor of Plainview New Covenant Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.
Mr. Young was born November 17, 1929, in Fieldton.
He married Ruth Bontke on July 5, 1947, in Clovis, New Mexico.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elizabeth Franklin and Peggy Miller, both of Plainview; a son, Eddy Young of Kress; five brothers, Edgar Young of Kress, Carlton Young and Billy Tom Young, both of Plainview; Earl Young of Bovina; and Mearl Young of Shawnee, Oklahoma; three sisters, Francis Ready of Friona; Margie Pool of Tulia; and Audrea Mahagan of Claytonville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to New Covenant Church of Plainview, 3300 Kokomo St., Plainview, Texas 79072.
