BUREN E. WILSON
1915 - 2008


Shawnee resident Buren E. Wilson, 93, died Monday, October 20, 2008, at a local nursing home.
He was born on June 17, 1915, in Ardmore to Walter M. Wilson and Minnie Puckett Wilson.
He graduated from Ardmore High School.
He married Lois Holliman. They were married 72 years before her death earlier this year.
He served in the U. S. Army during W.W.II. He also sold insurance for Met Life, served as city Commissioner for twelve years, and was a founder of the Sr. Citizens Center.
He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and member of the Shawnee Elks Lodge where he enjoyed golfing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, Barbara Gaston; three brothers, Willard, A.C., and Everett Wilson; one sister, Gladys Wilson; and daughter-in-law, Alice Wilson; and one son-in-law, Delbert Gaston.
Survivors include his one son, Doug Wilson of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter, Krista George and husband Jeff of Houston, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan George and Jacob George.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Calmes and Dr. James Maxwell officiating.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
