BERNICE WEST
1930 - 2014


Bernice Farley West, age 84 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Purcell Hospital.
She was born March 22, 1930 in Byars, Oklahoma.
She was the 2nd child of six children and the only daughter born to Wesley Ernest Farley and Audrey Grider Farley.
Bernice grew up a farm girl living NE of Byars in the Johnsonville community. In her childhood years she attended the Cottonwood country school. She later attended the Wanette and Lexington schools.
She was living in Oklahoma City when she married Duane West on February 25, 1956. In 1961 they moved to California where she worked at various jobs, was a homemaker and raised their daughter, Kathy. In 1977, Duane took a job in Casper, Wyoming and they lived there until he retired in 1986. In 1991 they moved back to Purcell, Oklahoma where they live today.
Bernice enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden, she especially liked mowing the yard. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Danny Joe Farley, Rex Lavon Farley, Richard Gordon Farley, Bobby Ray Farley and Thomas Paul Farley.
She is survived by her husband, Allan Duane West of the home in Purcell; daughter, Kathy Wells and husband Scott of Santa Barbara, California; three sisters-in-law, Pat Farley of Choctaw, Oklahoma; Nita Farley of Montclair, California; and Rose Mary Farley of Durango, Colorado; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Purcell.
Burial will be at the Wanette Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
