GERALD ALAN STARR
1943 - 2016


Gerald Alan Starr was born October 20, 1943 in Garden City, Kansas.
His parents were Jack and Glendon Hebbe Starr.
He graduated from Lawrence {Kansas} High School in 1961 and attended the University of Oklahoma.
In 1967 he married Linda Kay Sparks.
He received a degree in Accounting and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He worked as a professor of political science, as a Certified Public Accountant, and served within the Oklahoma Office of Public Management and the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department.
Gerald and Linda had three children, Laura, of Pflugerville, Texas; Jeffrey of Orem, Utah; and Bradley who died as a newborn.
His parents and wife preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother, David, sister, Jean, his children, Laura and Jeffrey, son-in-law, Daniel and granddaughter, Madeleine.
In retirement, Gerald pursued his love of classic cars. He owned a prize-winning 1931 Model A Coupe, a 1956 Studebaker, was rebuilding a 1926 Star Car, and owned and traded many more vehicles. He was the Stude Flyer newsletter editor and was active in several car clubs.
He died March 9, 2016 while traveling in Atlanta of cardiac arrest caused by a pulmonary embolism.
Funeral services are Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 302 E. Independence St., Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Burial at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.
