KATHERINE J. SPEERS
1911 - 1999


Katherine Junk Speers died Sunday in an Oklahoma City nursing home. She was 87.
Mrs. Speers was born on October 16, 1911, in Shawnee, the daughter of Ted and May Lower Junk.
She graduated from St. Benedict High School.
She married Albert Speers on June 17, 1930, in Shawnee.
Mrs. Speers was a homemaker, a member of the St. Benedict Altar Society, B. of R.T. {railroad} Auxiliary and Busy Workers.
She had lived at St. Ann's Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Speers was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Speers; a son, Ted E. Speers; two infant sons; and three brothers.
She is survived by five children, Bette Rowlett, Fairbanks, Alaska; Pat Taylor, Oklahoma City; Richard Speers, Shawnee; John Speers, Shawnee; Mary Katherine Card, Coleman, Michigan; a sister, Anna Mae Junk, Shawnee; twenty two grandchildren; thirty three great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research, 825 N.E. 13th, Oklahoma City, 73104 or Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, 74801.
A prayer vigil will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence Stasyszen, O.S.B., officiating.
The family will meet in the community room of St. Benedict Church following the service.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
