Maxine Pickering Shoemake went to be with her Lord and Savior July 9, 2012.

She was born to Laurel and Julia Pickering on October 6, 1926, in Quay {Payne County}.

She lived most of her childhood in Pottawatomie County.

As a young adult, she moved to Georgia, where she worked as vice president for Irby-Seawell/SE Aviation Underwriters for more than 30 years.

Upon her retirement, she moved to Fairfield Plantation in Carrollton, Georgia, before buying a home in Braselton.

After the death of her husband, Jay Shoemake, she moved to McCormick, South Carolina to be with her sister Gerry. More than a year ago, she returned to Oklahoma and was residing with her sister Jane.

Maxine was a spunky, energetic, full-of-life Christian lady who enjoyed reading, crosswords puzzles, working at her computer and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lowell Lynn; second husband, Jay Shoemake; two sons, Roy Lynn and Donald Lynn; sister, Gerry Pickering; and brother, Bob Pickering.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Tammy Reiss, Sherri Austin, Kathy Kull and Lora Spivey; siblings, Charlene McKinny, Jane Satterfield, and Tom Pickering; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Romulus Baptist Church, 30955 Old Highway 18, Macomb.
