VINA MARIE PRATT
1915 - 1998
Former Shawnee resident Vina Marie Washington Pratt, 82, died Friday in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was born December 29, 1915, in Shawnee to Walter and Minnie Thorpe Washington.
She was the niece of Olympic athlete Jim Thorpe.
She grew up in Hominy and attended Chilocco Indian School.
In 1938, she married George Pratt, Sr., in Hominy, later moving to the Indian Village and then Pawhuska. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and her brother, Joe Rider.
Survivors include daughters, Elvita "Sally" Jefferson, Fairmont, West Virginia; and Marcell "Judy" Maker, Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Micahel Sylvester Pratt, Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a niece.
Rosary was held 7:00 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hominy.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. today at the same location, with the Rev. Ken Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Hominy.
