WINONA ODEN
1938 - 2015


Winona Hobbs Oden, 76, of Welling, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at her home.
She was born on June 17, 1938 to Raymond and Thelma Storey Hobbs in Carrizozo, New Mexico.
As a child growing up, Winona’s family moved back and forth between New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas.
She married Russell Oden, Sr., on May 14, 1960 in Childress, Texas.
Following their marriage, Winona and Russell raised their family in Altus, Shawnee, Wanette and Macomb, before moving to Welling where they have resided for the past 17 years.
She worked for Oklahoma Baptist University in housekeeping for many years.
Winona loved her church, singing and doing church work. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and her flower garden
She along with husband delivered meals to senior citizens in Tahlequah.
Winona loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them; they were the focal point of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul Hobbs and Teedle Hobbs.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 54½ years, Russell Oden of the home; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Mattie and Phillip Chandler of Lexington, Oklahoma; and Tammie and Alan Dodgion of Macomb, Oklahoma; two sons and one daughter-in-law and one fiancé, Charlie and Martha Oden of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Raymond Joe Oden and Kimberly Millan of Wagoner, Oklahoma; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Little of Welling, Oklahoma; Jean and Wayne Green of Macomb, Oklahoma; and Rosemary and Billy Jones of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Vernon and Lauren Hobbs of Macomb, Oklahoma; Dwain and Linda Hobbs of Macomb, Oklahoma; Bub and Wilma Hobbs of Wanette, Oklahoma; and Alice Hobbs of San Antonio, New Mexico; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and extended family.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 1, 2015 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 at Cooper Funeral Home. Family gathering to meet with friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 at Cooper Funeral Home.
Service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Neal Dillard of Etta Baptist Church in Welling, Oklahoma officiating.
Burial will follow at Tribbey Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
