ERNIE NICHOLS
1945 - 2004


Shawnee resident Ernie Nichols, 59, died Thursday, December 30, in Shawnee.
He was born June 23, 1945, in Suffolk County, England, to Howard Earl and Mary Theresa Williams Nichols.
In 1946, he was brought to the United States on the Queen Mary at the age of 10 months.
On December 1, 1997, he married Afton Rose in Miami, Oklahoma.
He lived in Shawnee, Sacramento, California for five years, then moved to Clinton, where he lived for 25 years. He lived in Vinita for eight years.
He was a 1964 graduate of Bethel High School. He worked as a personal care assistant.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Nichols; his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Afton Nichols of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Alice Nichols of Shawnee; daughter, Rhonda Walker of Durant; granddaughter, Cheyenne Walker of Durant; grandson, Zack Knox of Shawnee; father, Howard Nichols of Shawnee; brother, Thomas H. Nichols of Kingston; and uncles and spouses, Bill and Linda Nichols of Shawnee, Rusty and Dorothy Nichols of Milwaukee, Oregon and Pat Williams of England.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Hopewell Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Harmon officiating. Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.
