IDA LORENE NEWLAND
1914 - 1999


Ida Lorene Junk Newland of Tecumseh died Monday. She was 85.
She was born March 23, 1914, in Shawnee to Pete and Mattie Orrick Junk.
She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1931 and St. Anthony's Hospital Nursing School in 1934.
On November 3, 1935, she married Warren E. Newland in Guthrie and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1983.
She was born and reared in Shawnee, then lived in Oklahoma City from 1934 through 1968. She moved to Tecumseh and had lived there since that time.
She was a practicing registered nurse for several years and was a former member of the St. Patrick Church in Oklahoma City and was a current member of St. Benedict Church of Shawnee.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Warren Newland in 1957; her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Sister Susan Newland, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Kansas; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Marr, Tecumseh; Bernice Foree, Oklahoma City; Gloria and Bill Stasyszen of Tecumseh; numerous nieces and nephews.
A wake service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Lawrence Stasyszen, OSB.
Burial is at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
