EDWIN BYRON NEIGHBORS JR.
1918 - 2016


E. B. Neighbors Jr., 97, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was born on October 1, 1918, in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma to Eddie Byron Neighbors Sr. and Esther Ollie Tacker.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn "Marie" Shipley, one sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his children, E. B. Neighbors III "Ed" of Beggs, Oklahoma and Sara Popovich {Anthony} of Springfield, Virginia, his three granddaughters, Chele Marie Neighbors-Mickle {Jared}, Ashley Young-Speicher {John} and Laura Popovich as well as five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He proudly served his country in World War II as an Army Air Corp Staff Sergeant in charge of over 160 men.
E.B. graduated from East Central University and had a very successful career as an insurance adjuster, he retired from GAB and Marsh and McLennan.
He served in the Surrey Hills Lions Club for many years.
He believed in his Lord Jesus Christ and served as a deacon for many years at Highland Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and Revive Free Will Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
He was a hardworking, diligent and dedicated family man.
He was our "Daddy" and "Papa" and we were his "babies".
He was an avid reader, loved OU football and spent his free time attending home games and fishing as often as he could.
He was generous, loving and loyal and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 with family gathering from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Cooper Funeral Home, 210 West Walnut Street Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Rhett Burnett officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh with burial to follow Swan Hill Cemetery, Ada.
