MARY RAMONA MOORE
1929 - 2016


Mary Ramona Simpson Moore, age 87 of Wanette, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born January 15, 1929 in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
She was the 6th child of seven children born to John Marion Simpson and Mildred Garloyn Childress Simpson.
Mary grew up a farm girl living in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
At the age of 15 she married the love of her life, James W. Moore. They were married on June 1, 1944 in Caruthersville, Missouri.
For the first 19 years of her married life, she and James raised ten children and lived half of the time in Tennessee and half of the time in New Mexico. In 1963 they moved to Moore, Oklahoma and after James died in 1975 she moved to Wanette.
Mary worked hard as a wife, mother and homemaker however at different times in her life she did work outside of the home. While her grandchildren and great grandchildren were growing up, she became their full-time babysitter. And when called upon she would also babysit other children in the community.
Mary was a faithful Christian and member of the Grace Communion International Church in Ada for the past 48 years.
She loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. In her later years she also enjoyed dancing.
She will be greatly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Millie Simpson; husband, James W. Moore on May 27, 1975, six brothers and sisters, all from Tennessee; one son, Charles Gary Moore, three son-in-laws, Tim Finney, Jim Chambers and Ted Williams and three granddaughters, Rosana Prater, Catherine Doden Williams and Shelby Renee Martinez.
She is survived by nine children, six daughters, Janie DeVilbiss and husband Max of Shawnee, Wanda Chambers of Noble, Rose Mary Williams of Wanette, Brenda Doden and husband Ed of Wanette, Judy Smith and husband Frank of Macomb and Cindy Harrison of Tribbey; three sons, Jim Moore and wife Sandy of Bethany, Larry Moore and wife Leslie of Park Hill and Tim Moore and wife Rachael of Wanette; one daughter-in-law, Carol Moore of Stratford, thirty two grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Wanette, Oklahoma.
Interment will be at the Wanette Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
