MONROE MOODY
1934 - 2001


Monroe Moody, 66, Shawnee, died Thursday in Midwest City.
He was born August 24, 1934, in Washington, Oklahoma to Irving and Mae Finley Moody.
He grew up in the Washington/Purcell area, also living in Norman and Moore before moving to Shawnee 19 years ago.
On April 28, 1978, he and Shirley Cosby were married in Gainesville, Texas.
Moody was a truck driver for J&M Cartage of Oklahoma City. He, his wife and his brother Gary owned and operated Moody's Pond and Lake Stocking Company.
He attended the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Preceding him in death were his father and two brothers, Merrl Moody and Eugene Moody.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother, Mae Paul of Purcell; six sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Sheila Moody of Purcell, Mark and Susan Moody of Norman, Mike and Theresa Moody of Norman, David and Angela Moody of Chickasha, Tommy and Tamara Stiles of Tecumseh and Darrell and Keli Stiles of Shawnee; his daughter, Sharon Syrus of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers and sister-in-law, Gary Moody of Moore, and Gerald and Armelda Moody of Washington, Okla.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley Elms of Norman, Carol and Bill Claxton of Ada and Betty and Butch Bilby of Purcell; his grandchildren, Steven Moody, Lance Moody, Zack Moody, Lyric Moody, Michael Moody, Lindsay Moody, Ashton Stiles, Keaton Stiles and Jeff Austin, as well as numerous other relatives.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Ron Baldridge will officiate.
Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
