SHERYL SUE MARTIN
1940 - 2012


Sheryl Sue Gill Martin, of Tecumseh, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Sand Springs and raised by Clay and Minnie Hargus Lemley.
She was taught in a small Catholic school in Sand Springs.
Sheryl has lived in Tecumseh most of her adult life before moving to Tucumcari, New Mexico from 1981 to 1991. She moved back to the Tecumseh area in 1991 and has lived there since.
She married Jerry Martin on November 18, 1991, in Las Vegas.
Sheryl was a housewife and also worked as a bookkeeper.
She was a Thunder fan and an avid pro football follower, particularly Joe Montana. She enjoyed going to country music concerts and was a collector of Native American arts and crafts. Sheryl also loved all animals, especially dogs, with Shar Pei's being her favorite breed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Jerry Martin, of the home; daughter, Teresa Echard, of Earlsboro; two grandsons, B. J. Echard, of Ada; and Andy and wife, Lisa Echard, of Macomb; and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral rites will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Father John Peter Swaminathan, St. Benedict's Catholic Church of Shawnee, officiating.
Burial will follow at Romulus Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
