JOHN SIDNEY MANNING
1941 - 2013


On September 24, 2013, John Sidney Manning, age 71, of Council Hill, Oklahoma, left this world to awaken in the presence of His Heavenly Father.
John was born December 9, 1941 in Paducah, Texas to George Sidney Manning and Lillian Green Manning.
He spent most of his childhood near Wanette, where he attended school, graduating in 1960. On January 8, 1962, he married the love of his life, and lifelong school mate, Georgia Mae Keesee Manning. They lived in Wanette until 1981, when they moved to Norman, and later settling in Moore in 1997.
John worked for Tyler & Simpson Co. for more than 21 years. He then worked at the University of Oklahoma in the Transit Department before working at the Postal Training Center for several years.
He loved C.B. Radios. He co-founded the Bucket Mouth Breakers C.B. club in Wanette. In 2005, he retired, and he and Georgia moved to Council Hill, Oklahoma. John received his Mission Workers License through the Pentecostal Holiness Organization in Wewoka in 1970. He loved the Lord and served faithfully throughout his life. John loved people, and greatly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He never met a stranger and those whose lives he touched, knew he was a special man.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Manning and his mother, Lillian Green Brownfield and her husband Leon; infant brother, Keith Earl Manning and his grandparents.
John leaves behind his wife, Georgia, of the home; two sons, Ron Manning of North Carolina and Randy Manning and wife Melody of Washington, Oklahoma; five grandsons, John Calvin "Jaycee" Manning and Bryan Allen Manning, both of Norman; Colton Tyler Manning, Cody Ray Manning and Colin John "C.J." Manning, all of Washington; one great grandson, Calvin Eugene Manning of Norman; three brothers, Dwight Manning and wife Linda; and Jim Manning, all of Bristow; and Buddy Manning of Joliet, Tennessee; three sisters, Venita Armstrong and husband Ira of Pine Ridge, Arkansas; Jenny Dollar of Oden, Arkansas; and Rita Powell and husband Troy of Paducah, Texas; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Wanette Cemetery in Wanette.
