MARY WILHELMINA SOPHIE GOUGH
1910 - 2008


SHAWNEE, Okla. — McLoud resident Marie Wilhelmina Sophie Ertel Gough, 97, left this life on Friday, June 13, 2008 in Shawnee.
She was born on December 31, 1910 in Wellston to Gilbert Herman and Gertrude Gordel Ertel.
Marie lived in the McLoud area her entire life. She was a homemaker and helped her husband, H. O. Gough, run a dairy in McLoud until 1963.
She was active in the McLoud Senior Citizens Center.
Marie was a great cook and was best known for her pies, especially her coconut cream pie.
She loved to dance and was a member of a square dance team.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one son, Billy Joe Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Elmer L. Smith of Harrah and Gilbert H. Gough of McLoud; one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and John Drew of Harrah; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2:00 Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, with the Rev. Lewis Walters officiating.
Burial followed at Jent Cemetery, McLoud.
