RAYMOND EVERETT DEAN
1931 - 2016


Raymond Everett “Sonny” Dean was born on June 4, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas, and departed this life on Friday, April 1, 2016, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 84.
Sonny, the first child and first son of Raymond D. and Zella Chase Dean was a long-time resident of Prague.
After the death of his parents in 1938, Sonny’s first cousin, Leona Dawkins Stewart and her husband, Jim Stewart, raised him as their son.
Sonny attended school at Garden Grove and graduated from Centerview in 1949.
In 1950, he joined the United States Air Force, served in Korea and continued his military career until he retired in 1975. Sonny was then employed at Tinker AFB until his retirement in 1990.
He married Frieda Jewell Williams on January 22, 1955, in Midwest City. To this union of marriage two children were born, Anthony Ray “Andy” and Kendra Leigh. They remained married until Frieda’s death in 1997.
The family lived a country life enjoying activities such as horseback riding, hunting, fishing and planting large gardens and orchards.
They were very active members in the Round-Up Clubs in the area.
Sonny was also a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge {Mt. Scott Lodge No. 540 in Lawton}.
He later married Margaret Moore. The couple enjoyed their retirement by traveling extensively and spending time with their mutual grandson, Tyler Ray Dean. Sonny also enjoyed cooking for his family.
His parents, first wife, Frieda; brothers, Lester Dean, Luther Dean, Bill Dean Wilson and James Stewart and sisters, Mildred Medved, Florence Dean and Margarette Dean preceded Sonny in death.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Margaret Dean of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Rhonda Dean of Prague; daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Michael Henington of Santa Fe, New Mexico; stepdaughter, Donna Russell of Oklahoma City; stepson, Jodie Russell and his wife, Tammie, of Edmond; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Bro. Larry Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
