CARI ANN COX
1966 - 2009


Cari Ann Cox, 42, of Porum, died May 3, 2009, in Tulsa. She was born June 16, 1966, in Shawnee to Richard and Sonja Winkler Starkey.
She great up in McLoud, graduating with the class of '84.
On December 28, 1985, she and Donald Cox were married and to this union two daughters were born, Ashton and Taylor.
She earned her bachelor's degree in home economics from OSU. She began teaching at Porum High School in 1989. She was well liked by both faculty and students.
She loved watching softball. One of her favorite things was doing for others and she was known for putting others before herself. She adored her family and will be remembered for her love of God.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Porum.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Cox of the home; two daughters, Ashton Clayborn and husband, Brandon of Tahlequah, and Taylor Cox, of the home; her parents, Richard and Sonja Starkey of McLoud; two brothers, Joe Starkey and wife, Debbi of McLoud; Andy Starkey and wife, Margaret of McLoud; her father and mother-in-law, Huey and Ila Cox of Eufaula; her brothers and sister-in-laws, Steve and Donna Sheilds of McLoud, Eddie and Kelly Cox of McLoud, Dewayne and Lela Cox of McLoud and Dan and Paula Pischl of McLoud.
Funeral services were held May 6 at the Porum High School Events Center with the Rev. Daniel Henson officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim Whitman, Dusty Rogers, Mark Calavan, Jerry Anderson, Kenny McCoy, Jerry Shomake, Kevin Coulston and Bill Parker.
Burial followed at Dale Cemetery, in Dale, under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
