FRANCIS GERALD CANTWELL SR.
1931 - 2001


Francis Gerald "Jerry" Cantwell Sr., 69, Shawnee, died Sunday in Shawnee.
The son of Thomas and Edna Mae Reagle Cantwell was born October 29, 1931 in Darington, Pennsylvania.
He formerly lived in Fisher, Illinois where he was married to Audrey Gritten on August 21, 1982.
Cantwell served in the U. S. Air Force for twenty five years and retired in 1973 as a tech sergeant. He worked at Flocon until his 1991 retirement. He delivered the Daily Oklahoman in the Tecumseh area for five years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Shawnee and in Rantoul, Illinois.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, two sisters and two granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Francis Gerald Cantwell Jr. of Milden Hall, England; and David James Cantwell of Rantoul, Illinois; three daughters, Debra Jo Motzer of Libertyville, Illinois; and Kimberly Ann Delaney and Linda Sue Gebauer, both of Rantoul; stepsons, Newton Anderson of Paxton, Illinois; and William A. Anderson of Rantoul; a stepdaughter, Samantha Williams of Tuscola, Illinois; two brothers, Kenneth Cantwell of Struthers, Ohio; and Thomas Cantwell of East Palestine, Illinois; two sisters, Virginia Ash of Stockport, Ohio; and Betty Berger of Austintown, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Lux Memorial Chapel in Rantoul.
The Rev. Andy Baker will officiate.
Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois.
Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
