LEE ROY BUCHANAN
1926 - 1998


Shawnee resident Lee Roy Buchanan died Sunday at a local hospital at the age of 71.
Mr. Buchanan was born October 23, 1926, in Shawnee, to Doug and Bessie Buchanan.
He attended Prairie Valley High School in Seminole County for eleven years and graduated from Richmond Union High School in Richmond, California after moving there with his parents.
He married Dorothy Mae Benton on February 25, 1949, and served in the U. S. Army for two years and two months.
He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for more than thirty one years in the civil engineering and logistics area. He also was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Buchanan of the home; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul Buchanan of the home; Tony and Beth Buchanan of Stillwater; Rick and Karla Buchanan of Duncan; and Phil Buchanan of Muskogee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifton and Jean Buchanan of Claremore; and Clyde and Joyce Buchanan of Catoosa; four grandchildren; and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Clara Miller.
A vigil will be held 7:00 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Mass of Christian burial will 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Memorial Program, Oklahoma Division, Inc., 4323 N.W. 63rd Street, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73116-1513, or to St. Benedict Catholic Church Development Fund.
