EDNA V. BROWN
1922 - 2012


Edna V. Emmons Brown, 89, of Shawnee passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in Shawnee.
She was born July 15, 1922, to Edgar and Ida Walker Emmons in Tecumseh.
Edna was raised in the New Hope community and graduated from New Hope Schools and then attended Bethel High School.
She married Leo I. Brown on October 18, 1939, at Blackburn Baptist Chapel in Bethel Acres.
Edna raised her family in the Shawnee and Bethel areas before moving back to Shawnee in 1990 where she has lived since.
She was a member of the Blackburn Baptist Chapel, later becoming a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Edna was a 50-year member of the Pottawatomie County Extension Club.
She loved to cook for family gatherings and was known for her baked rolls.
Edna had a passion for gardening and enjoyed canning and selling her produce from her garden.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting and was always lending a helping hand to others.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Brown on March 11, 1989; five brothers; two sisters; grandson, Brett Sartin; great-granddaughter, Summer Graves; and three great-great-granddaughters, Paige Brown, Hope and Faith Goodman.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary E. Sartin of Shawnee; two sons and daughter-in-law, Edgar "Mac" Brown of Oklahoma City; and Harold M. and San Brown of Shawnee; six grandchildren, Lisa Vitenheimer, Kevin M. and Olivia Brown, Tracy D. Brown, Mike and Melanie Graves and Shannon and Daniel Fullbright; seventeen great grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16.
Casket will remain open until service time.
Family will gather to meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, at Cooper Funeral Home.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 17 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Wright officiating.
Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
