jeter-sj

November 16, 1953 ~ January 31, 2022

Sandra Jane Jeter of Oklahoma City passed away suddenly on the morning of January 31, 2022 in Tuttle Oklahoma while visiting her son. She was born in Stroud Oklahoma and lived most of her life in Oklahoma with her husband, Jerry Ray Jeter, until he passed away in 2007.

Sandra was born on November 16, 1953 to her parents J. B. and Betty Grogan. After completing school, she met her husband, Jerry, in Kingfisher Oklahoma and was married on April 1, 1971. They had two children, Shawn Jason Jeter and Brandy Jane Jeter in the coming years.

She worked several jobs including a stay at home mother until 1983 when she began a career in newspaper advertising at the Woodward News. She prospered in advertising which led her to accept a larger role at The Ponca City News in 1985. In 1991, with her children completing high school, she began taking courses at Oklahoma City Community College and in 1994, she became a Registered Nurse at the age of 40 years old. She worked as a Registered Nurse until retiring in 2012.

Through her marriage to Jerry, she enjoyed spending time with her family on vacations and on their boat at the lake. She was actively involved in the lives of her children and attended many school events. She unconditionally and unselfishly loved her children and supported them through various highs and lows. She was supportive to her family through various health challenges that would present themselves over the years including her husband’s cancer. Sandra lost her father in 1998 and survived not only the loss of her husband in 2007 but also the loss of her grandmother in the same year and her mother in 2008. In addition, she lost her daughter, Brandy, in a tragic auto accident in 2010 and her brother Jim Grogan in 2017.

Life since 2010 presented many internal struggles for Sandra but she overcame every obstacle. She made numerous new friends and reconnected with old friends. She enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Nannie”. To say that she would be missed by her family and friends would be an understatement. She was a bright and shining personality who improved the lives of everyone she knew.

Sandra is survived by her son Shawn (Jason) Jeter, daughter-in-law Jennifer Jeter, brothers Bill Grogan and Johnny Grogan, sisters-in-law Jenni Grogan, Jodie Grogan and Brenda Grogan, grandchildren Brooklyn Magnuson, Nicole Sowers, Brittany Zauner, Tiarra Carson, Emanuel Jeter, great-grandchildren DJ Carson, BraeLynn Sowers, Reid Crouse, Tyree Carson, Addison Sowers and Janady Carson.
