Linzy Lee Rivers

Longtime Earlsboro resident Linzy Lee Rivers, 75, died Friday, March 10, at Solara Hospital-Unity Health Center, South Campus.

He was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Hotulka, Okla., to Willie Lee and Lillian (Thompson) Rivers.

Rivers attended Dunbar High School in Shawnee.

On March 13, 1952, he married Letha Napoleon in Shawnee.

He worked at Barton Valve, Shawnee, for 35 years. He retired from the oilfield and worked six years in the manufacturing industry.

Rivers was a member of Kinder Hall of Jehovah Witness in Shawnee.

His parents; sister, Grace Woodfork; three brothers, M.B. Rivers, Reuben Rivers and Dewey Rivers preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Letha (Napoleon) Rivers, of the home; son, Leonard Lee Rivers of Shawnee; three daughters, Velma Carr of Tecumseh, Vanessa Alexander of Shawnee, Veada Capas of Shawnee; two brothers, Robert Rivers and Willie Rivers, both of Oklahoma City; five sisters, Mae Lee Hill of Stockton, Calif., Berniece Paysinger of El Cerrito, Calif., Anesa Woodfork of Los Angeles, Calif., Thelma Jackson of Shawnee, Vera Beale of Vallero, Calif.; four grandchildren, Shana Alexander, Robert Ervin, Arsenio Carr and Shawn Alexandra; great-grandchild, Greg Rion LeShore; several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Brother James Whitley officiating. Burial will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery, Earlsboro, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
