Charles Otis Whittington Jr. went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

Charles was born May 31, 1950, in Oklahoma City to Esther Marie and Charles Otis Whittington.

He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1968.

Charles attended the University of Central Oklahoma until joining the Navy in 1969.

He married Rhonda Fay Mays in 1971.

Charles was the co-owner of Shawnee Fruit Company for many years, and most recently worked as a material expediter for Defense Logistics Agency at Tinker AFB.

He was a caring husband, a loving dad, a "fun" and "catch" Poppy, and a friend to everyone.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother Esther; father Otis; and sisters, Rheta Toumbs and Janice Berkenbile.

He is survived by wife Rhonda of the home; son Charles Otis III and his wife Kristin; and daughters Lola and Seren of Kansas City, Missouri; and his daughter, Lara Del Mashek and her husband Charles and daughters Elizabeth and Sarah of Shawnee.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, at Heritage Church, 2100 N Bryan St., Shawnee.

A celebration of his life will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, also at Heritage Church.

Rev. Jay Sampson and Pastor Doug Parker will be officiating the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mission Shawnee.
