Submitted by: TD

Glenora Parsons Carpenter was born October 1, 1936 to Glenn and Ora (Dunn) Parsons in Shawnee, OK. She departed this life and went to her heavenly home on May 28, 2018.

Glenora was the first child born to Glenn and Ora, and they combined their names to give her a beautiful first name. She attended Shawnee public schools until the family bought a small store and moved to Bethel. There she met the love of her life Don Carpenter, and they were married November 26, 1953, during their senior year of high school. A marriage that lasted 64 years, ending only with her death.

Glenora loved her family. It never mattered how distant a relative one might be, to Glenora it was family. Everyone, family or friend, was always welcome in the Carpenter’s home.

Glenora loved music. She had the voice of an angel, and it was a blessing for those fortunate enough to hear her sing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ora Parsons, her beloved sister Marcheta Long, and a great-granddaughter Everly Carpenter.

She is survived by her husband, Don, of the home, sons Tommy (Linda) Carpenter of Shawnee, Keith (Cindy) of Bethel Acres, and daughter Colleen Arther (Chuck) of McLoud, her 12 grandchildren Howdy Carpenter (Karen), Andrea Carpenter Brooks (James), Derrick Carpenter (Jessica), Brandon Carpenter (Alicia), Nikkie Puckett (Rev. Randy), Joshua Arther, and Jake Arther, and great-grandchildren Ashlyn Carpenter, Landon Carpenter, Chase Smithey, Hailey Smithey, Roger Brooks, Hunter Brooks, Gracie Carpenter, Bennett Carpenter, MaKinlee Carpenter, Gage Carpenter, Torre Puckett, Taryn Wagner (Mitch), Tatum Puckett, Ian Davidson, Allison Davidson and Haley Graham, and 2 great great grandchildren, Kilynn Davidson and Collin Williams.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 1 at Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. The family will be at the funeral home 4-8 p.m. Thursday to receive visitors.
