Services for Robert R. “Bob” Whitwell, 81, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Southwest Church of Christ, Floyd Kaiser will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Whitwell died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at a local hospital. He was born May 3, 1932 in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma to A. C. and Viola Swindell Whitwell. He graduated from McLish High School in 1950.

He married Mary Jo McGehee on April 4, 1952. Mr. Whitwell worked for Whittle’s and Howard Sheet Metal, and later was a self-employed appliance repairman. Mr. Whitwell was a member of Southwest Church of Christ, a former board member of the Byng School Board where he served as president, and volunteered with the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Whitwell, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Johnston and her husband Pete of Ada, and Susan Malone and her husband Greg of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Nicholas Malone, Lacy LaFevers and her husband Jason, and Shay Wood; a great grandson, Andy Kyle; and a brother, Raymond Whitwell and wife Sue of Stonewall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Louis Whitwell.

Bearers will be Jeff Case, Wayne Case, Glen Barrett, Bob Barrett, Keith Nail and Bill Yerby.
