Services for Richard Lee “Dick” Stephenson, 78, of Kingston, formerly of Ada, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Zac Christian will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Stephenson died Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his home. He was born March 14, 1941 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Wayne and Lelia Means Stephenson. He graduated from Ada High School in 1959.
He married Wynema Etier April 11, 1979. Mr. Stephenson received his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees from East Central University. He was a coach, teacher, in the oil business and member of the First United Methodist Church.
Although the always-entertaining Dickie didn’t need a reason for people to want to be around him, he and Nema spent many years at Lake Texoma prompting visits from his kids and grandkids, who meant everything to him. Second only to his family, Dickie enjoyed his friends and a good party, which he was usually the life of. Everywhere he went he made friends, whether he liked them or not! Dickie definitely lived it his own way, never minded telling you what way that was, and probably never walked by a blackjack table without playing at least one hand. If there’s an Elk’s Lodge in the sky, he’s found it and is telling tall tales with his friends, old and new.
Survivors include his wife, Nema, of the home; daughter, Casey Hunter and husband John of Shawnee; two sons, Shawn Stephenson and wife Lisa of La Quinta, CA and Jamie Lowry and wife Jennifer of Ada; grandchildren, Heath Hunter of Shawnee, Sara and Brooks Stephenson, Paden and Ella Duncan of La Quinta, CA, Wyatt, Natalie, Reagan, Trinity and Luke Lowry of Ada; two brothers, Gene Stephenson, wife Lynda and family of Edmond and Jon Stephenson, wife Cheryl and family of Frisco, TX; sister, Sue Mayes, husband Wayne and family of Delaware, OH.
