Services for Lowell Dean Stephens, 88, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Travis Muse will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Stephens passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born December 13, 1934 in Stonewall, OK to B. Milt and Ruth Gentry Stephens.

He graduated from Stonewall High School in 1952. Mr. Stephens went on to East Central University where he received his bachelor’s degree in May 1963. He continued his education at SW Oklahoma State University and received his Master’s degree in 1978.

In 1953, he joined the United States Air Force and served until 1957. He then became an Air Force Reserve Member.

On August 18, 1965 he married Emi Lea Crittenden, at Elm Grove Church in Council Hill, OK.

Mr. Stephens taught and coached basketball and baseball in Lacey, Dover, Waukita, Roff, Hydro and Maud, OK from 1963 until 1978. He then moved to Coalgate where he retired as High School Principal in 1987.

Mr. Stephens loved farming and ranching his entire life. He also enjoyed fishing and bird hunting. Mr. Stephens was the Trustee of the Elks Lodge Ada BPOE from 1958 to 1975.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Lane Stephens and wife Apryl Boyd Stephens; and two grandchildren, Brennan Dean Stephens and Jayden Boyd.

Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Philip Stephens and one sister, Katherine Cavell.

Bearers are Jerry Stephens, Nick Beottler, Dennis Satchell, John Boyd, and Everett Baker. Honorary bearer, Sheri Cope-Haney.
