Services for Lavaughn Leon “L.L.” Sanders, 82, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Lovelady Baptist Church, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Sanders died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at a Shawnee hospital. He was born September 1, 1926 in the Owl Creek Community, east of Ada, Oklahoma to John and Bertha Brandon Sanders. He attended Lovelady school.

He married Nevajo Stephens. She preceded him in death December 27, 1969. He later married Freda Christine Davenport September 26, 1970. She died July 28, 2004. Mr. Sanders was employed with Southwest Bell Telephone and retired in 1978. He was also a farmer. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Jo Deaton and husband Bobby, Yukon; two sons, Brent Sanders and wife Pam, Lula, and Randy Sanders and wife Diana, Ada; three brothers, Dale Sanders, Oil Center, Carlin Sanders, Union Valley, and A. G. Sanders, Ada; one sister, Eloise Shellenberger, Sulphur; five grandchildren, Chris Deaton, Bree Reza, Roy Deaton, Trent Sanders and Erin Sanders; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jesse Deaton in 1992, a brother, Estes Sanders, and a sister, Estelee Rothell.

Bearers will be Toby Sanders, Pete Duncan, Steve McCulley, Larry Shellenberger, Alfred Rothell, and Donnie Lamb.
