John Macklyn McKain

Services for John Macklyn McKain, 87, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Dr. George Warren will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. McKain died Monday, February 23, 2009 at his home. He was born October 11, 1922 at Coalgate, Oklahoma to Joseph and Victoria Gentilini McKain. He graduated from Coalgate High School in 1940 and moved to Ada in 1947. He attended Murray State College and East Central State College.

He married Doris Marie Neal on December 23, 1945. Mr. McKain was employed in furniture sales with Morelock’s Furniture and McFarland Robertson Appliance and later was the head of billing and collecting in the water department for the City of Ada. He was employed with the City of Ada from 1974 until his retirement in 1987. Mr. McKain was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served in the U. S. Army Air Corps from June 1941 until August 2, 1945 during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Doris McKain, of the home; three daughters, Vicki Case and husband Mike, Preston, OK, Suzanne Green and husband Bennie, Caddo, OK, and Kathy Dargel and husband Michael, Verdigris, OK; nine grandchildren, Travis Green and wife Kelly, John Kyle Green, Megan Case, Missy Case, Brett Case and wife Brooke, Nicholas Dargel, McKenna Dargel, Bethany Dargel, and Kristin Dargel; two great grandchildren, Traven and Braden Green; two special nieces, Vicki Davis and Pat Dozier; and one special nephew, Barry Phillips.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Olga Phillips; two brothers, Robert McKain and Joe McKain; and a nephew, George Phillips.

Bearers will be his grandchildren and sons-in-law.
