Services for Charles Denver Jackson, 87, of Stillwater, formerly of Ada are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada, Rev. Gary Jamar will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery with the Chickasaw Honor Guard conducting military honors.

Mr. Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at a Tulsa hospital. He was born April 12, 1931 in Ada to Walter Jackson and Mary Boyte. He was raised by his grandparents, James and Julia Rich. He attended Union Hill grade school and graduated from Vanoss High School. He received a Civil Engineering degree from East Central University in Ada.

He married Cecile Frederick December 28, 1956 in Ada. She preceded him in death June 3, 2018 in Sapulpa. They were married for 62 years. Mr. Jackson had worked for Thompson Book Store in Ada and on June 14, 1958, he began working for the Oklahoma Highway Department (ODOT). He started as a survey crew member and retired after 37 years of service on August 1, 1995 as the Assistant Division Engineer over construction. He had worked in Ada, Enid, Shawnee, Sallisaw, Tulsa, Claremore, Stillwater and Perry.

Mr. Jackson was a member of the First Christian Church in Sallisaw and was a member of several professional engineering societies dealing with road construction. He served as a youth baseball and basketball coach, volunteered his surveying skills and was a volunteer at the Tuttle Vo-Tech.

Mr. Jackson served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 – 1955. He served on the USS Manchester (CL-83) Light Cruiser during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as an Engineman Second Class.

Survivors include two sons, Ronny Jackson and wife Carla of Jenks and Tim Jackson and wife Donna of Tulsa; three sisters, Linda Jackson Aston and Marilyn Jackson Langraf, both of California, and Shirley Boyte Martin of Brookhaven, Mississippi; a brother, Wayne Boyte, Brookhaven, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Jennifer James and husband Zayne of Ada, Jeffery Jackson and wife Kim of Palo Alton, CA, Chelsea Holzhauer and husband Waylon of Inola, Garrett Jackson of Owasso, Tyler Holderfield of Tulsa, and Patric Holderfield of Tulsa; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn James and Aubrey James, both of Ada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; grandparents, Julia and James Rich; and two sisters, Diane Jackson Cannon and Polly Boyte Smith.
