Services for Phyllis Mae Mullikin Inslee will be Monday, July 18, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Ada at 10:00 am followed by graveside services at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.

Phyllis passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022. She was at her home in Ada, OK, surrounded by family. She was 91 years old and had just celebrated her 73rd wedding anniversary.

Phyllis was born in Medicine Lodge, Kansas on February 10, 1931 at the home of her maternal grandparents Rye and Mae Woodward. She graduated with honors from Medicine Lodge High School in 1948.

Education was always a top priority for Phyllis. She started college in Fort Hayes, Kansas at Fort Hayes State University. Later she attended East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma. There she received a Bachelors of Art degree in Education in 1974 and a Masters of Education in 1977. Later she pursued graduate work in Women's Studies at SUNY in Binghampton, New York and at OSU in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her honor Societies were Phi Alpha, Theta, National History Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu, National Social Studies Honor Society, and Alpha Chi Honor Society.

Phyllis married Theophilus Dwayne Inslee on May 8, 1949. They had 4 children. As a young couple, they started out on the family farm in Kansas. They moved all over the state following Theop's college and professional career. Eventually they came to Ada, Oklahoma where Phyllis completed her degrees. She taught art and history at Stonewall Schools and later taught history at OSU.

History and Genealogy were Phyllis' two passions. She was a member and chairperson of many historical organizations: Daughters of the American Revolution, New England Women, National Society Women Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century, Daughters of the Colonial Wars, Daughters of the War of 1812. She was a past state president of the Colonial Dames of the 17 Century, and of the local Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter. Through these organizations Phyllis promoted her love of history and worked to place many historical markers on significant landmarks in Oklahoma. She made many life-long friends through these endeavors.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Theophilus Inslee; four children and their spouses: Glenn Eugene Inslee and wife Donna, Phillip Dwayne Inslee and wife Hazel, Donald William Inslee and wife Sherry, and Susan Jane Inslee Crook and husband Max, and honorary children Ricky Scott and Lynne Crouch Woodrell. By her grandchildren Crystal Dawn Inslee de Otero and husband Ali, William Andrew Inslee, Levi Theophilus Inslee, Jake Dwayne Inslee, Tammy Crawford Inslee and husband Ralph, Michael Crawford Inslee, Megan Rae Crook, Emily Ann Crook Anderson and husband Justin, Dylan Cole Crook, Caleb Matthew Crook, and her honorary grandchildren Joey House, Cristin White, Toby Perry, and Jamie Pittman. By her Great Grandchildren: Ivan Rafael Otero Inslee, Glenn Archer Otero Inslee, Andrew Sawyer Otero Inslee, Ryan Cordel Inslee, Lexie Inslee, Jakelynn Inslee, Micah Inslee, Mackenzie Inslee, Brittany Burnes, Sheridan Burnes, Robert Walling, and her honorary great grandchildren Bayley Johnson. By her Great Great Grandchildren Felicity Burnes and Owen Clayton James Leon.

She was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin F. Mullikin and Edith Lurinda Woodward Trantham, and by her siblings Benjamin Mullikin and Virginia Chance, and by a grandson Luke Thomas Inslee.

Pallbearers are Caleb Crook, Dylan Crook, Jake Inslee, Levi Inslee, Drew Inslee and Michael Inslee. Honorary bearers are Ryan Inslee, Emily Anderson, Megan Crook, Crystal Inslee Otero and Lexie Inslee.

Memorial donations may be made to the Park Ministry of the First United Methodist Church of Ada Oklahoma.
