Services for Carolyn Sue (Scott) Hicks are 10:00 AM Monday, December 4, 2023 at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Randy Golden will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday.

Carolyn was born May 19, 1948 in Rock Springs, WY and lived most of her adult life in Ada, OK.

She was a hard worker & started working as an early teenager as a waitress at Ada's Dog House Drive-In. She's been a waitress, manufacturer, convenience store worker, hospital switch board operator, gas station attendant, sleep study technologist, hotel hospitality meal prep, & Granddaughter's (Jaycee) caretaker.

Carolyn was a loving person who cared for her family and liked to laugh. She took care of her mother, as she lived with her on & off through the years. Being a single mom at various points, she always took care of Susie, Brad, & Stacie. She made sure they had what they needed and made celebrations like birthdays and holidays special. Kenneth, her brother, lived with her & the family for a good portion of his growing up years.

She was a loving aunt and grandmother, making sure all around her gave her a “real hug”....one that sometimes took your breath away. She made it a point to be there for them, as she could, at special events and various hospital stays. She was very proud of her grandchildren and some of her favorite ways to show her love to them was to call them on their birthdays and to give them gifts.

Hobbies included sewing (making each grandchild their own quilt as a baby), playing games like Rummy, Scrabble, & Solitaire, enjoying the lake and park, Bingo, going to the casino, & crafts, like ceramics and painting.

After being diagnosed with lung cancer in late August, she was able to gracefully and peacefully spend time at home with many family & friend visits. Her family was blessed to see her beautiful walk with Jesus lived out through the time we had with her. We thought we had more time and would've enjoyed just one more day, but are thankful she is at the feet of Jesus – no need for oxygen, no sorrow, no tears, and best of all..no sin. Praise the Lord!

Carolyn is survived by her husband Pat Hicks; brother Kenneth Scott; children Susie Brown, Brad & Jennifer Hicks, & Stacie Wilson; grandchildren Bradley & Kaia Hicks, Colton Furr, Blake Stewart & Taylor Winkelmann, Joshua & Lynnsey Herbel, Phillip Wilson, Nathan Hicks, Brooklyn Wilson, Ryan Brown, Natilyn Hicks, Rylyn Hicks, Braelyn Hicks, Brendon Hicks, and Aaron Hicks; great-grandsons Cash Pardue and Grayson Vick.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Geneva (North) Scott; her sisters Donna Wails, Sharon Bessett, & Janet Roberts; and her granddaughter Jaycee Furr.

She touched many lives with her laugh and big grin.

We will dearly miss her & look forward to seeing her in Glory.
