Services for Rev. Joe T. Dixon, 82, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. Bob Payne and Mr. Fred Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Rev. Dixon passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at an Ada hospital. He was born September 22, 1935 in Williamsburg, MO to Jesse and Martha (Wilks) Dixon. Joe Dixon and Lynda Jordan were married July 1, 1955.

Joe graduated from Montgomery City High School in Montgomery City, MO and then from Hannibal- LaGrange Junior College in Hannibal, MO, and then East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, TX, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Rev. Dixon served churches in Missouri, Texas and Kentucky, as pastor until he moved to Ada in 1961 to serve as Pastor of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Ada until 1968. He was Pastor of Sooner Baptist Church, in Midwest City from 1968-1972.

When the family returned to Ada in 1972 and Joe was Pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Byng for 34 years. After retiring, he served Lovelady Baptist Church as interim pastor, and later was called to Galey Baptist Church, where he served as Pastor for 6 years until his health failed.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda, of the home; two sons, Randy Dixon and wife Selena of Ennis, TX, and Rod Dixon and wife Gayla of Weatherford, TX; a daughter, Kelly Dawson and husband Alan of Oklahoma City; ten grandchildren: Katreena (Dixon) Patterson and husband Shayne, Bethany (Dixon) Kumor and husband John; Hillary (Dixon) Moseley and husband Jason; Nathanael Dixon, Jonathan Dixon, Joshua Dixon, Brandon Dixon and wife Charis; Rayna Dawson, Taylor Dawson and Alex Dawson; 10 great-grandchildren: Savanah and Khonor Patterson; Kavahn, Alyssa, Loreli, Seth and Eli Kumor; and Garrett, Hailey and Gage Moseley; a sister, Dorothy Dixon (Dot) Dudley and husband Ray; many nieces and nephews, including Bill Dixon (Sandra), Cathy Schreiber Smith (Adrian), Anita Midili, Richard Younger, Donna Rosemann (Rick) and Karen Sluder (Rick); great nieces and nephews, including Shanon Schreiber, Sara and Mary Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Leslie (Dub) Dixon and Robert Hale (Bob) Dixon.

Bearers will be Shayne Patterson, John Kumor, Jason Moseley, Brandon Dixon, Taylor Dawson and Nathanael Dixon.
